5 things Jesus said about communication

I’m not a Christian, but I do read all of the world’s great spiritual literature.

It seems to me that Jesus emphasized communication that fosters love, understanding, truth, thoughtfulness, compassion, and sincere dialogue.

Here are 5 things Jesus purportedly said about communication:

  1. “Let your Yes be Yes, and your No, No; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.” (Matthew 5:37)

  2. “For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.” (Matthew 12:36-37)

  3. “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” (Luke 6:45)

  4. “If your brother or sister sins against you, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over.” (Matthew 18:15)

  5. “Bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.” (Luke 6:28)

He seems to be saying that our words and actions are reflections of what’s in our hearts.

Merry Christmas to our Christian sisters and brothers.
